WHAT SOME FOLKS SAY ABOUT SAM VINIKOFF . . .
Your marvelous Everglades scene graces my office wall. It reminds me of the importance of land preservation and your skills as a painter.
Just 10 years after the Everglades National Park was established, Vinikoff began his landscapes, effectively portraying the elusive essence of the Glades. As a staunch realist, it is not unusual to find him in the park, creating his lovely images of a sawgrass marsh, hardwood hammock or cypress strand.
Yours were the first paintings I had seen to captivate the pink backlight cast on winter cypress by morning clouds, or the clarity of pine against the winter sky. You have managed to capture the two essentials of this ecosystem: Its awesome and immense space on the one hand and its tiny but lively qualities which make the ecosystem work. Your paintings strike at my soul. I thank you for them and hope you continue with your unique work for many years.
